Amber

Amber’s heart began to race, her skin became hot with anger, she couldn’t move. She could feel her light brown eyes fill with sorrow and heart break. The one thing she did not want to do was cry, but it was inevitable, the warmth of a tear fell down her light brown skin. The trail it made soiled her skin with remorse, and regret. Amber stood at a distance and watched the man she loved, caress another woman’s face, and gently kiss her dark brown skin, who was she? They sat in broad day light at a cafe in downtown, so close their love could not be denied. Amber began to think, she should have been me, my skin he kissed and my soul he made glow. Chris reached across the table, with his left ring less hand, and played with her, made her giggle and smile. Every giggle made Amber’s heart pulsate; throb and it caused her eyes to swell with tears. She wanted to scream, she wanted to run up and slap his face, and stab her with her own fork. But Amber couldn’t move, her sandaled foot and with perfectly pedicure toes just would not move, she stood still and cried. She watched as he fed her from his own fork, and kissed away cool whip from the tip of her nose. His piercing Hazel eyes, glistened when he watched her, he had a beautiful smile across his face, how could such a beautiful moment be such torment. The beginning of her happiness was the end of Amber’s. The waiter came over and collected revenue for their meal, Chris motioned that it was on him and she smiled. Amber couldn’t let him get away, she couldn’t allow him to enjoy this moment and not feel any of the pain she had endured. Chris rose from his chair and began to slide hers out, and she rose. She, Amber’s pain, was beautiful, dark skin, brown eyes, long curly hair and a gorgeous smile. Chris grabbed her hand and they began to walk, Amber could not let him get away without him hurting in some way. It was the first time within this forever lasting moment that she could move, Amber’s rage and hurt carried her every steps so smooth but heavy with pain. She reached them, she was so close she could smell his cologne, the cologne that made her tingle when she was around him. Amber was close enough to, reach out and grab him but she couldn’t, it wasn’t who she was. A plan began to form, she moved ahead of them along with bustling crowd, it hurt even more that, she could walk right pass him and nothing. Only a few steps ahead of them, she dropped her purse spilling everything out at Chris’s feet, he was so wrapped up in who he was with, that he didn’t recognize Amber’s tiny physique kneeling down in front of him. Being the gentleman he was, he squat down to help her, and they were face to face to. Amber looked at him, deep in his eyes, so deep she saw that he didn’t deserve her, and nothing she had given to him be physical it or mental. Chris reached for her things, and then he touched her hand; his face was that of a torn soul. In such a twist of emotions, that no one could read his face. A tear fell from Amber’s eyes and hit the concrete like a raindrop from a monsoon, it fell hard and with it came a flood of emotions. He was no longer hers, and she will never belong to him again. They both stood, Chris did not know what to say to Amber, but Amber had been in this moment longer than he would ever know. She nodded her head towards the woman and said “Thank you for everything” to Chris and she walked away. She left behind the man she had always loved and the pain, she had just endured. Amber was and is strong, she never looked back.
